On Sunday night, the Dallas Cowboys faced up the 49ers at Levi Stadium in Santa Clara.
Just like as we initially thought, the starters would not get to see much playing time during the matchup. Tony Romo, Dallas Cowboys QB, was behind center for just three short plays.
Romo’s night ended early with 1 pass for -1 yards. Backup Quarterback Brandon Weeden’s night ended early as well, as he was taken into the locker room with a blow to the head.
We got a long look at third string quarterback Dustin Vaughan, who’s night was not a good one. Vaughan ended the night 7-of-16 with two interceptions. Vaughan struggled early on, as did the offensive line. With Tyron Smith (LT), Zack Martin (RG) and Doug Free (RT) all out for Sunday’s game, Cowboys had to rely on the likes of Darrion Weems and La’el Collins to fill in their vacant spots.
The offensive lines struggled mightily, giving up four sacks on the night.
That being said, preseason is not the time to panic. The Cowboys will head back to Oxnard, California to prepare to take on the Minnesota Vikings, Saturday, August 29th.
Will we see better play from Cowboys rookies and backups? We shall soon find out.
